I am an Art and Psyco-Therapist specializing in therapy for children and adults
I work through means of verbal and visual expression in a safe and non-judgmental space. I work to explore each clients experiences through creative expression, not only as an emotional outlet but also as a window into other parts of the self, as a way to create meaningful and lasting change. I understand that children and adults work through problems differently and find that a non-verbal approach to therapy often works the best. In working with children and adults I find the individual always shines through. That is imperative and informative to my practice. I create a plan for treatment based on the unique needs of each client. I derive my treatments through a variety of creative modalities.
I have an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Art Therapy from Antioch University and an am an honors graduate from Portland State University with a BA in Child and Family Studies and a specialization in child welfare/human services. I combine my graduate and undergraduate degrees to inform my approach in a holistic and culturally responsive way.
Child Welfare and Human Services
I understand that sometimes parents and children need support together. If you or your child is experiencing trauma I am trained to meet the specific needs of the parent child relationship. Families can benefit from therapy as a way to grow together. Sometimes a therapist can help to redirect attention away from ingrained patterns. Sometimes you simply need to be reminded that you and you’re child are different people experiencing life in unique ways. Relief from conflict can be a healthy step toward a harmonious family. My field of expertise is working with children and adults who are or have experienced sexual trauma.
Compassionate, person centered, and positive
I also work with persons who experience atypical or deviant sexual urges, particularly persons who identify as minor attracted. Using compassionate, positive therapy with the aim of relieving feelings of anxiety, depression, or isolation related to sexual urges, or sexual abuse.
